The serif on the 'j' standing for jay-z makes the magazine look more prestigious and reaches out to a more wealthier, trendy and modern target audience who are in young adults which mean they may come from a high social background. This also gives a new image to Jay-Z. We forget his hard struggle for fame and appreciate his achievements. This font also allows us to contrast his past with his current image.

The lay out almost looks like a Bible which portray Jay-Z as a godly type figure. This fits in as he is popular in the music industry and he is considered a god as he is apart of a trilogy that passes music, in particular rap, down to generations which secures the survival for rap music.

The colour scheme is plain a simplistic. Black is very content and classic. Red connotes passion for rap, blood for the origins of rap for example the blood shed in the ghetto and the origin of the
words. The colour scheme ties in with the picture along side the text as Jay-Z has a sort of faded red light on him and the black creates mysteriousness as if something big is about to arrive and Jay-Z leaves us waiting creating both suspense and the urge to keep up to date with Jay-Z via this magazine therefore continuously buying it.The close up makes the magazine feel very personal and real as we can see his face but on the other hand the fact that he is wearing glasses creates a sense of mystery as the reader thinks that Jay-Z doesn't want to reveal his eyes and therefore his identity. In many spiritual contexts the eyes are considered the gate way of the soul so for Jay-Z to not show his eyes, his personality, it shows that he considers himself a god like figure as he him self does not have a soul.
In addition glasses are also a materialistic item used to make some one look sexy and also mysterious. This will make the audience aspire to own materialistic items.

The layout of the paragraphs look like passages from the bible which contribute to making Jay-Z look more Superior and therefore reaching out to the younger audience who, using Maslows theory, will aspire to him.

This magazine comes across as very professional and it feels as if the company genuinely want you to gain knowledge about the artists for the right reasons.

In this double page spread we get the impression that this artist is very misunderstood. We feel this with the aggressiveness of the fonts which are all distorted in different sizes allowing us to interpret the message within the eye catching caption.
The picture is always on one side or the other - this magazine has followed the convention. The caption is right next to the lady which is almost as if she is saying it herself.
The colour of the font goes with the colour scheme which is very contained with the colours red black and white. They are attractive trendy colours amongst young teens.
Like most magazines this double page spread has its logo's embedded at the bottom corners of the pages just to remind the audience who they heard it from first.
The direct mode of address from the model instantly catches our attention combined with the caption.
The layout of the writing is in simple form just more compressed at the bottom because of the amount of space the caption at the top takes.

In this double page spread the use of sex appeal is apparent as we see the figure of this cover star exposed. We know that this is aimed more at a male target audience mostly aged between 18+ because there is 'Man!' in bold italics right next to her leg which makes the audience think of her as quite promiscuous. However the fact that she is only making shows may make the audience, in particular woman, to aspire to her as these show represent her as a self working woman who's all about her career. Male's may find this quite threatening and dangerous which may also add thrill and adrenaline to the reader creating a type of sex appeal.

The lay out is very simple so we consider this a quite high up magazine as simple always seems to be classy and now days different degrees of nude are considered art. Black and white creates an antique feel as though this article and this cover star is timeless which is really creative because it allows the audience to have this particular brand embellished in there minds even if the magazine is still a launching magazine.

The second picture is a mid shot of the model who has a shirt on, a big blouse which may indicate it is a mans one. her facial expression is happy and she is giving direct mood of address which helps engage the audience and creates a bond to share her feelings with the audience.

In this double page spread we have a close up of the cover star. It is very simplistic with simple colours to make the whole theme more simple so the audience concentrate on the story more. The fur the cover star is wearing represents wealth which will attract a more younger easy to influence audience, particularly aspires. This is a motivational double page spread as the heading is "Jessie j superstar rising" this will help attract a young audience as the fact that she herself is a young super star from a harsh background makes people want to know her story. Similarly my cover story relates to my artists background and her rise to fame. The font is very chique and trendy so we think of the young teens as quite trendy and wanting to know about the latest trends in fashion and music.

The colours are more feminine so instantly we know that this is aimed at a female audience. It also clashes with her make up which shows that they have carefully considered the colour co ordination.

Jessie J's direct mode of address helps catch our attention along with the header so we become instantly engaged.

With the first double page spread, one of the typical conventions I have decided to follow with my own production of my double page spread is to have my picture on one side of the page and my article on another as it looks more neat and people can pay more attention to my cover stars story. This also adds pressure to the quality of the picture as well as the article its self because instead of having a brilliant photo over taking the article I will need to have both an exquisite article as well as photo so my target audience is entertained.  Another convention I will be following is adding my logo of my magazine in the bottom corner of my double page spread.
My lighting will be similar to that of Jessie J's article; bright in order to create a sense of prosperity and hope amongst my audience instead of portraying my model in a dark, sinister, mischievous manner like most youths are represented in media.
