Genre: Afrobeats/Bashement
Colour scheme for fonts 1:
Green
Yellow
Red
Gold for the borders
These colours work very well as they represent the countries they come from. Ghana has these colours in there flag and reggea is the mother of bashement so we instantly associate these colours to
these countries and specfic countries. It adds flavour to the magazine. However its not as original as I think it could be so im still going to explore more colour schemes that go with the genre and also make it more urban.
I will definatly be keeping the gold because gold equals wealth and my target audience are aspirers. Aspirers for a new trend, the latest trend.
The mast head will be either:
This font is called 'capture' and it lives up to its name. Although my music african I am introducing it to a more young urban culture so it will mix with culture and urbanisation.
This font captured not only my eye but my target audience aswell because of its design. Instantly we think of Zebras with these stripes and Zebras do come from Africa. This is also adding culture as well as an Urban background to suit the class in which most of my target audience come from.
The title will always be black. It is formal but also collides with every other colour well.
Logo inspirations:
Although I will not be using this picture exactly, this will influence my design as the image speaks for afrobeats as well as bashement.
I also have in mind of doing something more simplistic like 'V' shape as the logo to represent my franchise.
I was inspired by magazines such as Q and 'Vibe' because they have small simplistic logo's.
Picture locations: How succesful my locations are partly depend on the weather. Hopefully, if the weather is kind, the pictures will be taken on a dry sunny day. If not, I will make the most of the grim weather London has on offer in order to influence more tourists as well as the national audience.

If I were to have this as a layout it would relate to my young audience as it would be more eye catching and as it is cluttered most teens could relate to it due to the fact that teens have a lot to say especially during the age when they are coming to find themselves. However it wouldn't look as sophisticated so I want my magazine to be a mixture of sophisticated and eye catching as well.
I hope to gain my target audiences attention with my cover star's outfit as well as direct mode of address.
This layout is more typical of a gossip style rather then a music magazine. I liked it because it is something most young adults would pick up from a shelf because it's the most eye catching.
This layout is typical of a more gossip, trendy magazine. I want my magazine to look cluttered in order to show how much news it has to offer. Because my magazine comes out once every two weeks and I want to keep my audience entertained and not bored I have to use this cluttered layout to attract them and show them that it is worth paying for.
Although I like the tags at the bottom of the masthead, I have began reconsidering if it is a wise decision as this is a magazine not and online magazine. However it is not conventional and would set a sort of trend within the magazine world as they are informing the audience of what they have to offer.
In my first two designs I have been experimenting with different franchise Logo's for my magazine for the background of my content page.
Not many music magazine's use a background in there content page and the ones that do are more established and confident that they will attract and sell their magazine to there target audience.
I have decided to use my logo as my backgorund because it just shows that even though I have a niche selling point that I am still confident that I will sell because my genre is very popular but just isn't recgonized in wider society.
The left content page has 'pulses' coming out of the 'V'. I designed this because I wanted it to link back to the fact that because my music genre is so livley and upbeat its brings people to life hence the pulse which connotes life and adrenaline.
I wanted it to be red because it connects with the colour scheme throughout my magazine but also because it signifys blood which relates to the pulse.
In my second idea it was just a plane, abstract V which resembles the V from my masthead. I liked this because it was more trendy and sophisticated which is the vibe I want my magazine to give off.
In the third plan I decided to organise the layout in a more typical conventional way. At first I was going to follow this plan but then as I began creating it I realised that I still want to keep my plain and simple layout meaning I didnt want to many pictures. I didn't want to many pictures because I wanted the audience to concentrate more on my cover star and the story she had to offer.
This is my design for my double page spread. It is quite conventional as in it includes images, it has a page break, one side is a blank page for the article and one side for the main image.
I mentioned that I may not have a page break and let the picture flow on where my text will overlap.
I will be encountering issues such as the colour of the font clashing with the colours in the background. I have kept that in mind and I am prepared to make a double page spread with a blank page.
